Planet Word, a new museum of words and language, opened in Washington, D.C. in the fall of 2020.

As the world’s first voice-activated museum, Planet Word invited visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in words and experience language as something active, relevant, and constantly evolving. In the The Spoken World, visitors learn from “ambassadors” who invite them to speak words from their native languages, sparking animations on a large LED globe in the center of the room. Unlock the Music is karaoke room where visitors can perform songs of their choosing, while annotations on the projections and iPads note writing techniques embedded in the lyrics. I’m Sold! focuses on advertising, inviting visitors to compose their own ads using techniques such as wordplay and double meaning.
